Featured earlier this year as sothebysrealty.com’s number one most viewed home of 2015 and the Sotheby’s International Realty brand’s most expensive listing of all time, the W.T. Waggoner Ranch in Vernon, Texas has sold!
“The sale of the legendary W.T. Waggoner Ranch is a perfect example of the Sotheby’s International Realty reach at work. After launching the property, we received international inquiries from Dubai, China, South America, Mexico and beyond,” said Robbie Briggs, president and chief executive officer of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty. “The strong national presence of the brand ultimately connected us with the buyer, Stan Kroenke, an American businessman, owner of the Los Angeles Rams and devoted rancher who saw the value of investing in Texas soil. We are very excited to be part of this historic sale.”
“The sale of the W.T. Waggoner Ranch is the highest priced listing sold in the history of the Sotheby’s International Realty brand,” added Philip White, president and chief operating officer of Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates LLC.
The W.T. Waggoner Ranch is one of the largest and most famous ranches in the United States and was established in 1849. Never before offered for sale in 165 years of ownership, the sprawling Ranch estate includes more than 535,000-contiguous acres spread over six North Texas counties, incorporating two main compounds, many homes and significant infrastructure, including a 10,000 square foot Ranch office headquarters in nearby Vernon, Texas.
There are approximately 20 cowboy camps ranging from 10,000 to 40,000 acres each. The ranch was offered as a turnkey proposition with hundreds of quarter-horses, many thousands of head of cattle, with approximately 1,200 existing oil wells, as well as mineral rights and 30,000 acres of cultivated farmland.
